R.A.K - August 2011 Wrap Up!

Book Soulmates

R.A.K (Random Acts of Kindness) is an event hosted by two lovely girls (Isalys and Vanessa) at
Book Soulmates. Choose a person (from the Google Doc list on the Book Soulmates website), check out their wishlist (it can be posted on Amazon, Goodreads, your blog...) and then select something from that list and send it as a gift.

I know, has anyone told you that it's the end of September? :P Believe me, I'm well aware of that but since I didn't join the R.A.K this month (I was with no internet for so long because of the move) I thought it would have been nice to thank in the proper way the awesome girls who sent me some amazing books for the August R.A.K so, here we go! ;)

Thanks to my great friend Bex who sent me first "Nightshade" by Andrea Cremer and "A Hunger Like No Other" by Kresley Cole and then "Wolfsbane" by Andrea Cremer!
Thanks to the sweet Carien who sent me "Moon Called" by Patricia Briggs!
Thanks to the amazing Sin who sent me "Poison Study" by Maria V. Snyder!
And thanks to the lovely Cassie who sent me "Fantasy Lover" by Sherrilyn Kenyon!

Now that I finally back online I can join the new R.A.K and nothing could make me happier than receiving more amazing books just like all those ones! ;)

"Alterant" by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love

SERIES: Belador #2

GENRE: Paranormal Romance
SOURCE: Publisher
LINKS: Goodreads | Book Depository

In this explosive new world of betrayals and shaky alliances, the only Alterant not incarcerated faces an impossible task - recapturing three dangerous, escaped creatures before they slaughter more humans... or her. The way Evalle Kincaid sees it, saving mankind from total destruction should have cleared her name. But when words uttered in the heat of combat are twisted against her, she's blamed for the prison break of three dangerous Alterants. She has one chance to clear the cloud of suspicion hanging over her. All she has to do is recapture the escapees. But deals with gods and goddesses are tricky at best, and now the lives of all Beladors - and the safety of innocent humans - rides on Evalle's success. And the only person she can ask for help wants to see her dead.

I usally don't read the second book of a series if I haven't read the previous one first, but when the Publisher sent me this book and I read the blurb I couldn't resist.

I was afraid of not being involved in the proper way because since I hadn't read the first instalment I thought I could have lost some important events, but fortunately I found that the first book wasn't totally vital (but a to be read for sure!) because many things are explained a lot and so well here, including references to the previous events, that it was a pleasurable reading of what sounds like an amazing series.

From the blurb you think you're gonna read a story about Evalle Kincaid, but you realize soon that it's more than that. There is a common story, the main event, but then the ones of every character and couple or possible ones, Tzader, Quinn, Kizira, Brina... They fight the same battle, even if not all on the same side, none of them has an easy relationship, they have different personal issues and you symphatize with them, you feel close to their situations and I'm not gonna deny that there were some touching moments where I felt tears in my eyes...

Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love did an amazing job and the need to know more and more about these beautiful characters keep you devouring this book and the end let you pray for a third book soon!

"Half-Blood" by Jennifer L. Armentrout

SERIES: Covenant #1
PUBLISHER: Spencer Hill Press
GENRE: YA Paranormal
SOURCE: Publisher
LINKS: Goodreads | Book Depository

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi—pure-bloods—have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals—well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem—staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

This is one book to remember, THE one you definitely wanna read and reread. You can't get bored even for a second, many things happen, the action is present for almost the entire book, charming characters keep appearing from nowhere. You can try but you won't be able to put this book down. You keep asking yourself "what is it going to happen in the next chapter? What will be Alex's next move?" And here's the best part, when Alex feels pain you feel it as well, if she laughs or says something funny/sarcastic you're gonna see that smile/grin on your face. Is she practising? You wanna go to the gym and start kicking some ass! Is she flirting or thinking of doing it? You'll be in the mood! And it would be better if Aiden was in the nearby...

I had goosebumps and even felt myself blushing in more than one occasion... Sometimes I felt like I was about to cry, sometimes like I couldn't stop laughing. Every kind of emotion is there, ready to jump on you, and the amazing writing skills of the author are what makes this happen.

I really don't know how to describe the feeling I had and still have after I finished it. All I can say is the Gods know how this book is perfect! A totally MUST READ!!

Guess who's back online?

I'd say FINALLY!!!! ;D Did you miss me? For the record I missed you all very much!! To be without connection for so long was a real nightmare... I mean, under some aspects it was kinda good because I had time to do some things outside and concentrate on a few issues that had to be fixed, but hey, what about my blog? How am I suppose to do my job and post reviews on time if I don't have a connection? Yes, for your joy I have reviews ready to be posted so don't worry, from tomorrow they will be online one by one! ;)
Gosh, I missed all of this... Btw I'm fine, the house is great and I'm back so, life is good! ;)

Hey everyone,

I'm sorry if I completely disappeared but I'm still having problems with the line... Apparently I have to wait a bit longer to have it activated and I so miss blogging! I'm using an internet dongle at the moment but my connection is a little bit slow and I have some download limits... But at least I can check my emails every day and now I can write this little post to update you, not bad at all! ;)
The move was an adventure but in the end it went well! The house is veeeery lovely and I finally have a tv and with Sky as well, YAY! :D I know, maybe for you that's nothing special, but when you had to live in a flat with no tv for almost 2 years, believe me, it's like waking up on Christmas day! And since I associate to Christmas the word "gifts", I'm taking this opportunity to thank the fab girls who gifted me some books for the R.A.K last month. It meant a lot to me, especially because it was a stressful time, with lots of troubles and you made my day with your great gifts so, from the bottom of my heart: thank you Bex, Carien, Cassie and Sin!!! I'll post the pic of the amazing books you bought me together with the "R.A.K - August 2011 Wrap Up!" post that hope to do soon... And it won't be the only one for sure! In fact, even if I was very busy unpacking everything (you never realize how much stuff you have until you move!) I kept reading and I prepared some reviews! So, keep your fingers crossed for my big return and stay around! ;)
