I never read anything about mermaids, most because a part of me was afraid I wouldn't have enjoied these creatures as much as the others, but I've always been curious about them. Then "Awakening" came on my way and I discovered a unique, pleasurable world...
The legend about mermaids that can be turned into humans if the right pleasure is awaken within them it's simply charming, but the psychological part is terribly intriguing. Is Nerina being forced in her change or is that wat she really wants from the very beginning? She was captured and taken away from her family, everyone should feel sorry for her just for this, right? But in some way you keep having that feeling she's in the right place... She's really conflicted and can't believe she can even think about leaving the sea forever. And for what then? For lust and passion? It's simply unacceptable. Still, the more you read, the more you feel the change like a desperate need, just like her craving for Kyros... He knows what he wants, how to kindle the flame of passion in Nerina, but he's patient during the whole process and believe me, this is what makes him appear even sexier!
The big pleasure you get by reading "Awakening" is the perfect example of how it's a matter of quality and not quantity that makes a story powerful and unforgettable.
