"Rogue Rider" by Larissa Ione

SERIES: Lords of Deliverance #4
GENRE: Paranormal Romance
SOURCE: Publisher
LINKS: Goodreads | Book Depository

Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues—and falls for—a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man that Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man that can be very dangerous... Reseph may not know his background, or why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbours are killed and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears he's putting her in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world with death and destruction, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?

"Rogue Rider" was an excellent read and a bit different from the previous instalments of the series. Pestilence/Reseph, I'm in awe... Pestilence will always be the evil he is, but Reseph, the real Reseph knows how to be lethal and be someone to love all along. His flirting with Jillian is a combination of sensuality and tenderness that can only bring a smile/smirk on your face and then leave a warm feeling in your heart. Of course, the wild and ecstatic sex deserves a special mention, too. That is part (and a glorious skill) of Reseph, but still, the connection with Jillian, their bounding and the love/trust in their relationship is what make these two a fantastic couple.

Now, I have a confession to make. Avoiding any spoilers, a while ago I put my eyes on another character I found particularly intriguing and I always had a pretty good vibe about another one. I knew there was something more, er, relevant than what we were "seeing"... Guess what? It turns out I was right! Who do you think I'm referring to? Someone I'm desperately waiting to read about soon (thank God Ione for announcing another book in LOD/Demonica world), because after an end like the one in here and all the unexpected revelations in the middle, I so want/need to see/know more!

I haven't rated a single instalment of this series under five stars. It's a first and yes, kinda shocking if you want. Usually a series tends to have its (at least little) ups and downs after all, right? So, was I too good with my ratings? No way. The reason of this deep love for Lords of Deliverance is just that it's an absolute compelling, gorgeous series and Larissa Ione a genius of the paranormal romance genre.
