"Seducing The Succubus" by Cassie Ryan

PUBLISHER: Berkley Sensation
GENRE: Erotic/Paranormal Romance
SOURCE: Purchased

Jezebeth is living out the centuries as any succubus must-seducing men to survive and tempting souls to make her quota with her queen, Lilith. In fact, she's doing just that in a popular dance club when she's attacked by a bounty demon. Lucky for her, a handsome human appears out of nowhere to save her... Noah Halston is a horror writer who owes his life to Lilith. He'd almost forgotten-until an imp showed up on his doorstep to tell him it was time to pay up. Now he must elude the most fearsome beasts of Hell while escorting a very attractive and tempting succubus safely to Lilith's lair-or else he will forfeit his soul to an eternity of torture. Trouble is, if he spends too much time with the all too alluring Jezebeth, he may just lose his heart-or, even worse, his life...

I liked the background story and the world Cassie Ryan created, but I had a problem with the main characters. Of course the attraction between Jezebeth and Noah was there, but not the romance the author wanted us to see and make us fall for. In my opinion it was just flat, not particularly believable and so not involving. It bothered me because I couldn't find a connection with both Noah and Jez. Instead, I found myself completely lost in Lilith and Uriel's forbidden relationship. That intrigued me a lot and I definitely had a link with those who might be minor characters but who definitely play a huge role in the whole plot.

I'm usually not the greatest Angels' fan, but when I read about Archangels like the ones in here then I have to cheer for them. Handsome, powerful and with apparently no sexual inhibitions at all... They are what really kept me going on with the reading and the curiosity to see what is going to happen among a few of them is telling me that, even if I wasn't particularly enthusiastic with this first instalment, I should give the second book a try.
