SUMMARY
With the Experiment in Terror show finding some success, amateur ghost hunters Perry Palomino and Dex Foray embark on their most terrifying investigation yet. A tiny, fog-shrouded island in the rough strait between British Columbia and Washington State has held a dark secret for decades: It was a former leper colony where over forty souls were left to rot, die and bury each other. Now a functioning campground, Perry and Dex spend an isolated weekend there to investigate potential hauntings but as the duo quickly find out, there is more to fear on D’Arcy Island than just ghosts. The island quickly pits partner against partner, spiraling the pair into madness that serves to destroy their sanity, their relationship and their very lives.

MY REVIEW

Thanks to a wise advice I was given, I avoided nightmares by not reading this at night, but I'm afraid ghosts were just another matter altogether... I feel like this series has finally reached that level of creepiness I've always heard talking about but couldn't completely get. Indeed, "Dead Sky Morning" was the right instalment to make me freak out with lots of "What?", "No way!" and "Eww!" (perhaps sometimes 'accidentally' escaped as "Aww!") freely flying around during the whole read.

With mysterious appearances and quite the spooky setting, the story was as much intense as Perry and Dex's issues were. Boy if the tension between these two grew higher and higher in every chapter, and boy if it was as exciting as all the discoveries (big revelations!) made through this special journey. Let me tell you, with the new information gathered and with things ending the way they ended (did they?), I'm more than eager to read the next book because, guys, it just got very interesting!

RATING: 4/5

  1. Wow Silvia! Great review! Sounds like a lot went down.... And obviously you get quite immersed in the book if you can't read it at night... I'd have nightmares for sure!

I've heard so many wonderful things about this series, Silvia. Now, I'm really curious since you enjoyed it so well. I do appreciate the advice of not reading it at night. :)

  3. I don't usually get scared easily by reading, but sometimes I get caught into a story so much that if creepy things happen, I'm all for keeping the lights on... You know, just to avoid the possibility to re-play the scene in my head when I'm in bed. In the dark. With weird sounds coming from outside... Or they're coming from inside the house?... See? Avoiding being paranoid is everything, haha!

  4. The first instalment didn't give me the same chills this one gave me, but it was very good nonetheless. It got me three books to feel this creepiness everybody seemed to be so fond of, but I can assure you I found every single instalment wickedly captivating and I do love the characters! Hope you have a blast with the series, Kimberly :)

  7. It is also adventurous and exciting! Plus, it always gets me on an emotional lever for a reason or another (mostly because of Perry). I really have a great time whenever I read an instalment :)
