Life of a Blogger: Where were you 13 years ago?

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi @ Novel Heartbeat.
Every week we talk about a non-bookish topic, so that we get to know each other on a more personal level.

This week's topic: WHERE WERE YOU 13 YEARS AGO?

Thirteen years ago I was in Rome, at home, alone, studying for a University exam. Although my mind wasn't cooperating much because it was wandering elsewhere... How can I possibly be so sure about this, you ask? Because the day before this one is not a day you can erase from your mind.

On September 11th, 2001, I was watching a rerun of Beverly Hills 90210 on TV, when the show was abruptly interrupted and one of the most terrifying images appeared... I remember the shock on my face, the chills running up my spine and me repeating 'This is not happening'. One of the towers was down and there was panic and chaos everywhere. I called my mum at work and told her the news when, all of a sudden, my eyes couldn't believe what they were looking at. The impact. The second tower falling down.

How can you forget something like that? You can't. You won't.

I went on a Summer US trip in 2005 and New York was one of my stops. I cried at Ground Zero and my heart still cries for all those who have lost their lives that tragic day, and their families as well.

  1. I remember that I was in school and when I get home and turned on the TV and saw the news and stayed behind it to learn more about everything.

  2. I was in my first weeks of college when it happened. First time really away from home and on my own. Was so scary. I've not been back to NY since it happened. One day maybe. I know it'll be a hard trip to make.

  3. I was in school and remember all the teachers had the news on and we were all watching it.

  4. Those were dark times alright. I was in my third year of elementary school in California and those days were rough. My very young mind thought we would get something similar in Los Angeles and I wanted nothing more than to go back to Mexico.
